Today you are getting access to a new spreadsheet that I have just made. A reader, The Wiz, requested this and you can see his post requesting it in the forum at http://www.raceadvisor.co.uk/forum/software-and-system-reviews/rating-pro/
This rating system was not devised by myself, but I have made the spreadsheet based on The Wiz’s rules for anyone who wishes to use it.
With the introduction finished, let’s get to how we go about using the spreadsheet. When you open the file you will get a screen that looks like the image below.
As you can see there are a number of headings. These are Date/Time, Course, Horse Name, LTO Finish Position, 2nd to LTO Finish Position, Market Position, Tipped, CD Winner, Top 3, DSLR, Jockey, Trainer and Rating.
The Date/Time, Course and Horse Name are pretty self-explanatory. Next is the LTO Finish Position. You only need to use this field when the horse has finished in the top 4 in its last race. If this is the case then put the finish position in this field otherwise leave it blank.
We then come to the 2nd to LTO Finish Position, which is the horse’s finish position in the second to last race. Again you only need to enter the finish position if the horse has finished in the top 4, otherwise you can leave it blank.
Market Position is where the runner is in the live betting markets. Once again you only need to fill in this field if the runner is in the top 4 in the market. Put a 1 if the horse is favourite, 2 if second favourite etc… you can leave it blank for any runner that is not in the top 4 in the betting.
Tipped is not what it first looks like. This field is where you put in whether the horse is Strongly Fancied or a Beaten Favourite. If the horse is a beaten favourite then put in BF and if it is strongly fancied put in SF otherwise leave the field blank. You can find this information out form the Racing Post. The horse will have a BF after its name if it is a beaten favourite, I would suggest using the Selections Box in the Racing Post and if more than 50% of the tipsters select the runner then that would qualify it as an SF. Of course you may find runners that are both and on these occasions you would put SFBF or BFSF into this field.
CD Winner I am sure you already know! This is where the course and distance winner information goes in. If the horse is a course winner then enter a C and if it is a distance winner then enter a D.
News Tipsters information can also be found on the Racing Post website. Once again look in the Selections Box and if the horse has been tipped by a newspaper tipster then enter a Y into this field, otherwise leave it blank.
Top 3 you will find on the Racing Post forecast. If the horse is in the top 3 forecast winners or the top 3 TS rated then enter a Y into this field, otherwise leave it blank.
DSLR should contain the number of days that it has been since the horse last raced.
Finally we have the Jockey and Trainer fields. In these two fields we enter a Y if they are a top course jockey or trainer, otherwise it is left blank. You can find this information on the Racing Post but I find it easier on the Sporting Life website where each race card contains a clear link to Top Jockeys and Top Trainers.
Once you have entered this information for all the runners then you will get a final rating for each runner in the race under Rating. The screenshot below shows what a completed race card will look like.
As you can see Addwaitya and Beaubrav by are the highest rated. To download the spreadsheet please visit the downloads area or click here.
