I have decided to call a halt on this now as the base selections are showing an overall loss to LSP and a loss of 11% to proportional stakes.
For whatever reason the logic doesn't appear to work for these international races. I only really looked at it because of the lack of UK racing and I only had small stakes so no real damage done, all part of the learning experience.
@michael-clarke it's been interesting to follow. I would imagine this is because all (I think) these courses are pari-mutuel based betting? It could account for there being no edge in this way because it's market derived not bookmaker derived.

Can I just check, were the odds bookmaker win odds and place fractions but with the extra place? i.e. not win pool and place pool.
You've identified lack of BOG as one factor, what were the place over/under rounds like compared to UK races?
@andrewp Yes Andrew I was using the bookmaker odds. I think in general the over rounds are higher than UK racing but the races I bet in theory did provide an edge.
