How Much Time Will I Need To Make This Work ? One or Two minutes per day

Will I Need Any Equipment To Do This ? Bookmaker accounts and ability to place bets

We started proofing First Favourites on the 31st December 2013, and up until writing have proofed 368 selections.

Selections are not provided every day and so far have been back selections only across all codes of racing, and as the name suggests we are backing favourites (normally odds on).

This review will be done to ISP and BSP to 1 point level stakes and will be compared to the tipsters advised staking plan.

The results in this review are correct at time of writing but we will continue to proof First Favourites.

ISP Table

Bet type Selections Wins Losses Strike rate ROI Profit
Back 368 196 172 53 -2 -5.83

As you can see we have an excellent  Strike rate but a very poor ROI and Profit , which is due to the fact that most of the selections are odds on  favourites for which we need a much higher strike rate to make any sort of profit in the long term.

BSP Table

Bet type Selections Wins Losses Strike rate ROI Profit
Back 368 196 172 53 2 +6.98

At BSP we fair slightly better with the ROI moving up to +2 and the profit taking +12.81 point swing to +6.98.

Advised Staking

Bet type Selections Wins Losses Strike Rate ROI Profit
Back 368 196 172 53 3.7 +13.61

First Favourites advised staking plan is to have a starting bank of £1000 and then stake 10% of the current bank on each advised selection. At the end of each month we either take out any profit over £1000 or top up to £1000 if we’ve had a losing month. This means we have £265.92 (13.61 points) profit in almost 17 months

Since the start of proofing there has been 6 winning months and 9 losing months, with the current month at a profit level of zero.

At ISP these are as follows

Month Selections Wins Losses Strike rate ROI Profit
Jan 13 43 26 17 60 8 +3.32
Feb 13 45 28 17 62 23 +10.36
June 13 30 16 14 53 2 +0.59
Aug 13 18 12 6 67 19 +3.34
Mar 14 14 8 6 57 7 +0.93
Apr 14 14 10 4 71 30 +4.21

and at BSP

Month Selections Wins Losses Strike rate ROI Profit
Jan 13 43 26 17 60 15 +6.45
Feb 13 45 28 17 62 26 +11.82
Jun 13 30 16 14 53 3 +0.93
Aug 13 18 12 6 67 20 +3.61
Mar 14 14 8 6 57 13 +1.88
Apr 14 14 10 4 71 39 +5.44

Advised staking

Month Selections Wins Losses Strike rate ROI Pts Profit Cash Profit
Jan 13 43 26 17 60 8 +3.32 +£157.63
Feb 13 45 28 17 62 23 +10.3.6 +£1213.53
Jun 13 30 16 14 53 7.5 +2.25 +£65.46
Aug 13 18 12 6 67 31 +5.57 +£587.78
Mar 14 14 8 6 57 16 +2.24 +£159.85
Apr 14 14 10 4 71 44 +6.15 +£709.03

So does this service make a profit ?

At ISP and level staking First Favourites will lose you money at the current strike rate and odds taken, with the cost of the service over the proofing period also to be taken into account.

ISP

Stake Profit Cost of service Total profit
£10 -£58.30 £958.80 -£1017.10
£25 -£145.75 £958.80 -£1104.55
£50 -£291.50 £958.80 -£1250.30
£100 -£583.00 £958.80 -£1541.80

Even at BSP we can’t drag ourselves into profit

Stake Profit Cost of service Total profit
£10 +69.80 £958.80 -£889.00
£25 +£174.50 £958.80 -£784.30
£50 +£349.00 £958.80 -£609.80
£100 +£1243.00 £958.80 -£260.80

At advised staking the winning months totalled a profit of £2906.88 and the losing months totalled -£2640.96 , which leaves us a profit £265.92 minus the cost of the service £958.80 which leaves us with -£692.88 at these figures we have to say that First Favourites does not make us any money at the current strike rate/odds combination.

Over the last 90 days First Favourites have achieved a profit of 5.14 points with a strike rate of 61% and a ROI 13%, and over the last 60 days the profit is 4.21 with a strike rate of 93% with a ROI of 16%. For the current 30 days, the profit sits at zero with a strike rate of 62%.

Whilst reviewing this tipster I had a dig about to see if there was any way to make some profit from the selections, so I tried the flat selections on their own and then the jumps selections. I even tried 20/80 staking in the win and place markets but I couldn’t get enough profit to make it pay with the cost of the service thrown in.

Here at Race Advisor we consider £100 to be the minimum profit you should be making each month and as you can see we can’t achieve that at the current figures.

In First Favourites we have a tipping service that backs favourites and them normally being odds on.

So, although they have a very good strike rate, it’s not a rate that is conducive with backing selections that are odds on which means we are unlikely to make long term profit with this tipster. They need to pump up the strike  rate considerably to achieve a good enough profit to make it work for you as a punter. To that end here at Race Advisor we cannot currently recommended this service
