Something a little different this week, with these micro angles as I look at two trainers who do well with certain types of runners at Newmarket & Haydock respectively.
Ralph Beckett – Newmarket’s July Course
Trainer Ralph Beckett has an excellent win strike rate at Newmarket’s July course with his three-year-olds running in handicaps. Since 2014 he has had –
11 winners from 31 runners
35% Strike Rate
13 placed for a 42% strike rate
That can be improved by looking at such runners with the following:
Race Distance: 1m 2f+
9 winners from 12 runners
75% Strike Rate
9 placed for a 75% strike rate
N.B. Ralph Beckett three-year-old handicappers, not wearing headgear and racing over a distance of 1m 2f+.
Charles Hills Handicap Debutants – Haydock
Trainer Charlie Hills seems to like to send his handicap debutants to Haydock. Since 2014 he has had –
4 winners from 10 winner
40% Strike Rate
6 placed for a 60% strike rate
N.B. Charles Hills handicap debutants at Haydock.
Granted we are dealing with small sample’s, unlike the Saeed Bin Suroor one which has the ideal sample size. But they are interesting nonetheless and there will hopefully be a runner or two from the above, as both tracks host meetings on Friday & Saturday.
